Doors are stripped in hot caustic soda for between 20 and 60 minutes.
When the doors are completely stripped of all paint, they are then taken out
of the caustic soda and steam cleaned with a pressure washer.
The door is dipped in second tank containing acetic acid so that the door is
neutralised of any caustic soda residue.
Neutralising prevents any reactions when a finishing coat is applied.
After neutralising, the doors are placed in a heated drying room with dehumidifiers
until all moisture is removed and doors are completely dry.

PREPARATIONS TO BE TAKEN BEFORE DOORS ARE COLLECTED
Doors must be stripped of all handles and other door furniture.
Doors must be marked on the top and a corresponding mark made on the door
frame. This helps you identify the correct door for your frames if we treat more than one
door.
Work is usually completed within 7 to 10 days maximum, providing that there are
no complications in the stripping process.
For a waxed finish our service takes approximately two to three weeks
because we have to make sure the door is completely dry before we can sand, shellac and
apply a finishing coat of wax.
IMPORTANT NOTE :
Doors which have been painted with water based (acrylic) primer and paint cannot be
stripped using our normal process. We need to use different chemicals and hand strip the
door. In the event of us finding that a door has been painted in this way there will be a charge of £40
per door for stripping. Should this cost not be acceptable , doors will be returned to you.
